Bronze Daywalk 14th October 2007
The meeting time and place is 9.30 am, 14th October, at the Ranger Centre just past the Flotterstone Inn (which is just off the A702). We will aim for an end time of 4pm at the same place. Some may get back to the car park earlier, and some later, but we will be aiming for 4pm so let whomever is picking you up know this.
Make sure you have hats and sun screen – this is Scotland so the weather could be anything. You may want to check out the weather forecasts online for a better idea. Try www.metcheck.com.
- Remember your water/fluid – about 2 litres each.
- Waterproof jacket and trousers are a must – either your own or the ones you have requested from us for the day.
- Your daysack – take something that will have enough space for all the gear you may be wearing if it is warm, and is comfortable to wear all day when fully loaded.
- Lunch and snacks – Try to take a flask with a warm drink such as tea. Fruit juice in cartons, e.t.c. Please remember an empty carrier bag for carrying your rubbish with you.
- Have a think about what you need to take for your personal equipment. Hats, gloves, sunscreen, midge net/repellent, e.t.c. These are just some examples of items that were forgotten on previous day walks and expeditions.
- Blister plasters – Everyone should think about carrying at least one pack of these. Compeed and Scholl do them and I’m sure Boots will have their own brand too. These are specially designed plasters for treating blisters and can literally save the day if you develop a blister.
- Regarding clothes – try to avoid cotton as it soaks up moisture and takes forever to dry. Man-made fibres are better. ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS!
- Please wear appropriate footwear – Walking boots and decent socks. No trainers.
Most importantly – have fun and enjoy it!
If you have any last minute questions drop us an e-mail.
See you there,
The Leader Team
