Use the following documents when preparing for your expeditions. Help is given here but advice is always available from your group mentor and he other group leaders.
EE1 – City of Edinburgh Council Approval Form (.doc) – 134 KB
This form must be completed and submitted to the Award Office at least 8 weeks in advance of your expedition. If there are any issues with the route these will be communicated to the leader submitting the paperwork. Allowing more time for this will eliminate any last minute problems. Please note expeditions have been postponed in the past due to late paperwork.
EE2 – Parental Consent Form (.doc) – 94 KB
Each member of the expedition group under 18 years of age is required to have this form completed and signed by a parent or guardian. This must be returned to the group mentor or expedition supervisor before the expedition takes place. No parental consent form means no expedition.

This form must be completed before the expedition takes place with copies held during the expedition by the expedition supervisors and the home contact.

All unaccompanied practice journeys and qualifying ventures in designated ‘Wild Country’ must be notified in advance to the Award’s Wild Country Expedition Panel in the area. This is to register the venture with the Award, confirm that the route complies with the requirements of the Expeditions Section, and confirm that it meets the standards of an Award venture. At Least 8 weeks notification is required if the expedition requires a Wild Country Panel Assessor. This is recommended at Silver and expected at Gold. A copy of the green form must accompany the Council Paperwork.

All groups should have an appreciation of the risks that are present on their expedition. This form allows you to detail potential risks and the measures will be carried to minimise them. Please discuss this assessment with your group mentor.

A separate route card is required for each day of your venture. Training will be given during the evening session for you to complete the route card but further advice can be gained from your mentor or other group leader.
