Wild Country Panels
“It is The Award’s requirement that all ventures in Wild Country are notified at least six weeks in advance (using the Green Expedition Notification Forms available through all Operating Authorities) to the appropriate Expedition Panel Secretary, or four weeks if no Assessor is required. It is stressed that these are MINIMUM time requirements and that the maximum advance notice should be given to allow time for postage, suggested changes and so on. All Notifications and requests for Assessment should include a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Requests for Panel Folders should include a large (A4) stamped, self-addressed envelope.” www.theaward.org
The Wild Country Panels are available to offer participants and supervisors information and advice on planning an expedition in their area. The group has an expedition folder containing much of this information (ask the Leader Team to bring this in). Contact details for the Panel Secretary can be found either on the Panel’s website (links below), The Expedition Panel Section of The Award website or in the current issue of the Award Journal (ask one of the Leader Team for a copy).
Below shows a list of the current wild country panels within the United Kingdom. Those highlighted link to the Panels own website where you can locate further information specific to that area. The leaders at South Edinburgh also have a folder of information provided by the Wild Country Panels – Just ask! It is imperative that you read the information provided by the Panel you wish to visit.
